Eastern Idaho is known for it’s active population and breathtaking terrain. Summertime outdoor recreation is a great way to enjoy the sunny season and the region’s marathons and triathlons are designed to showcase the Gem State’s beauty while testing the stamina of all participants. Visitors are always welcome to join.

Ashton, ID

Mesa Falls Marathon: Saturday, July 15th – This course is one of the most beautiful destination marathons in the lower 48 and is a point-to-point race along Scenic Highway 47 in the Targhee National Forest ending in the quaint city of Ashton, ID. Full and half marathon races.

Idaho Falls, ID

  1. Great Snake River Triathlon: Saturday, August 12th at South Tourist Park – Includes both Sprint and Olympic distances with a downstream swim in the Snake River! Registration is open.

Rexburg, ID

  1. Teton Dam Marathon: Saturday, June 3rd – Includes a marathon, half-marathon, relay, 10K, 5K, and Kids Race, the event is held annually around the anniversary of the breaking of the Teton Dam in 1976. For more details, to register or volunteer, click the link above.
  2. Rexburg Rush Triathlon: Tuesday, June 17th at Wakeside Lake – Includes both Sprint and Olympic distances. Registration is open.

Rigby, ID

  1. Rigby Lake Rumble Triathlon: Saturday, July 16th at Jefferson County Lake – Includes both Sprint and Olympic distances. Registration is open.

Register to run then stay for a while. Each run location features outdoor adventures unique to the area and it is worthwhile to explore. After the race is run, take in the sights and go on an adventure or two. Visit Eastern Idaho Visitor Center in Idaho Falls and Visit Idaho, for detailed information about what Eastern Idaho has to offer.
