Rexburg

From Idaho Falls, head north on I-15 for 2 miles and exit onto US 20 North.   Stop in Rigby (12 miles) at the Farnsworth TV & Pioneer Museum (208)-745-8423.  Continue on US 20 North to Yellowstone Bear World (8 miles) (208)-359-9688 for a wildlife driving tour.  Continue north on US 20 to Rexburg (6 miles) to visit the Legacy Flight Museum (208)-359-5905 and the Idaho Centennial Carousel (208)-359-3020

Day 2

Yellowstone National Park 

From Rexburg, continue north on US 20 to Ashton and stop for an old-fashioned root beer float or a great American cheeseburger at the Frost Top Drive Inn.  Next door is Dave’s Jubilee Market where you can buy a couple of loaves of bread to feed the giant fish 7 miles up the road at Warm River.  Mesa Falls Scenic Byway is just six more miles up the road on Hwy 47 and loops around to the north and rejoins US 20 so you can continue on to Yellowstone.  Lower and Upper Mesa Falls both offer spectacular photo ops and a museum and information center free to the public.

Day 3

Grand Teton National Park 

Travel on US 287 South into Grand Teton National Park.  The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway takes you past the Grand Tetons and Jenny Lake.  There are excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, taking a hike and enjoying refreshments at the Jackson Lake Lodge or Signal Mountain Lodge.

Day 4

Jackson 

Spend your first day exploring Jackson, where shopping and outdoor activities abound.

Book a whitewater float with Mad River Boat Trips or Lewis & Clark Expeditions; ride the tram up Rendezvous Mountain or enjoy a nearby hike in Grand Teton National Park.  After a day of activities and shopping, take WY Hwy 22 west across the state line into Idaho to ID Hwy 33 west to Victor and Driggs for your accommodations.

Day 5

Victor, Driggs and Grand Targhee

After a hearty breakfast, head east on Ski Hill Road in Driggs to the Grand Targhee Resort.  Tram rides, mountain biking and hiking opportunities are options.  Visit the Teton Valley Museum (208)-354-6000.  Get a fabulous huckleberry & fudge milkshake at the Victor Emporium.

Day 6-7

Idaho Falls/Craters of the Moon

Take ID Hwy 33 east back to Victor (7 miles) and take ID Hwy 31 west to Swan Valley (22 miles).  Stop in Swan Valley at the Rainey Creek Square Ice Cream Store at the corner of ID Hwy 31 and ID Hwy 26 for a square ice cream cone and drinks.  Head west on ID Hwy 26 and pass through the Caribou National Forest and Antelope Flats toward Idaho Falls (42 miles).
